Easy Crochet Little Heart

Size of the finished toy:

About 2.36x2.36 inches (6x6 cm) wide with semi cotton yarn and a 1.75 mm crochet hook.

The size of the final result will spend on the hook size – use a bigger hook for a bigger heart and vice versa!

Abbreviations:

mr, sc n = magic ring - crochet n single crochet stitches into the adjustable loop

Cs = chain stitch (UK=chain)

sl st = slip stitch (UK=slip stitch)

sc = single crochet stitch (UK=double crochet)

inc = increase = 2 sc in one st

dec = decrease = two sc together

(sc 4, inc) x n = repeat the pattern between parentheses n times

st/sts = stitch/stitch

[n] = the number of stitches in the round

You will need:

- 1.75 mm crochet hook;

- yarn: Yarnart Jeans Pink color 83 or 36.

- Scissors, stitch marker or scrap piece of yarn;

- soft stuffing;

- yarn needle.

You can use the same pattern to make larger or smaller toys by using finer or bulkier yarn. Also you can use a different color yarn. Pick a crochet hook at least a size smaller than suggested on yarn label and crochet tightly enough to achieve a tight gauge that will not allow the stuffing to show through the fabric.

HEART

To keep track of the beginning of the rounds, use a stitch marker.

Round 1: mr, sc 6 = [6]
Round 2: (sc 1, inc) x 3 = [9]
Round 3: (sc 2, inc) x 3 = [12]
Round 4: sc 2, inc 2, sc 4, inc 2, sc 2 = [16]
Round 5: sc in each st around = [16]
Round 6: sc 3, inc 2, sc 6, inc 2, sc 3 = [20]
Round 7: sc in each st around = [20]
Round 8: sc 4, inc 2, sc 8, inc 2, sc 4 = [24]
Round 9: sc 5, inc 2, sc 10, inc 2, sc 5 = [28]
Round 10: sc 6, inc 2, sc 12, inc 2, sc 6 = [32]
Round 11: sc 7, inc 2, sc 14, inc 2, sc 7 = [36]
Round 12-13(2 rounds): sc in each st around = [36]
Round 14: Make sl st into the 18th st from the start of the round. Now we have 2 equal pieces
of 18 stitches each. Continue to crochet to the left sc in each st around = [18]

Round 15: (sc 1, dec) x 6= [12]
Round 16: dec 6= [6]
Cut the yarn leaving a yarn tail for fasten off. Stuff the heart tightly.
After you have finished crochet the first side of the heart, join the yarn with sl st and make Cs 1, continue crochet to the left.

Cut the yarn leaving a yarn tail for fasten off.
